NOVASURE ENDOMETRIAL ABLATION (EA) IS A SIMPLE, ONE-TIME, FIVE-MINUTE PROCEDURE
NovaSure is an endometrial ablation (EA) procedure that can reduce or stop menstrual bleeding. It works by permanently removing only the endometrium (the lining of the uterus that causes bleeding) with a quick delivery of radio frequency energy. The procedure takes about five minutes to complete and no incisions are necessary.
NovaSure is for premenopausal women with heavy periods due to non-life threatening causes and for women who are finished having children. NovaSure is not for those who have, or suspect they have, uterine cancer. It is also not a procedure for women who have an IUD, a metal uterine implant, who currently have a genital, urinary, or pelvic infection, or for women who may be pregnant. NovaSure is not a form of birth control. The chances of becoming pregnant are decreased after the procedure, but it is still possible to become pregnant.
Your doctor can explain the various treatment options for heavy periods and help you decide if NovaSure is right for you.
